Season 2 Episode 3: Inauguration Episode
Log Day: 1.20.2021

Today was the Inauguration of Vice President Joe Biden, who became our 46th President. The end of one tragic smear on the office of the Presidency to the beginning of four years filled with more hope and change than the last four. I know things are different because it was also a historic day for the first Black and South Asian woman to take the oath of office for Vice President. That in and of itself says more to me than anything else the Biden/Harris administration could possible do for this country. We as a nation came together and after four years of divisive partisanship; organizers from Black, Indigenous and communities of color came together to flip states and bring us a Biden/Harris administration. We did that. More than anything we have reclaimed the People's House. That gives me more hope than I've had in a very long time. I am more than moved by today's event, I'm profoundly affected especially by all the historical events leading up to today.
I am happy for the "peaceful" transference of power.
The inauguration showed the glowing diversity of this country. What this country truly is and can aspire to become. So, with that I will leave you with the words of the Poet, Amanda Gorman, The Hill We Climb:
"…Our blunders become their burdens
But one thing is certain:
If we merge mercy with might,
and might with right,
then love becomes our legacy
and change our children’s birthright
So let us leave behind a country
better than the one we were left with
Every breath from my bronze-pounded chest,
we will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one
We will rise from the gold-limbed hills of the west,
we will rise from the windswept northeast
where our forefathers first realized revolution
We will rise from the lake-rimmed cities of the midwestern states,
we will rise from the sunbaked south
We will rebuild, reconcile and recover
and every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it."
